Location: Dampa Tiger Reserve, Mizoram; 92013' - 92027' E and 23032' - 23041' N.
Dampa borders Bangladesh in the west and is close to Myanmar (to the east). The lower reaches of Dampa are covered by moist deciduous and evergreen and semi-evergreen forests.
Date and time of sighting: Single observation on 21st February 2005, 14.33 hours
Number of birds sighted: Two, though only one could be photographed.
Observation: Birds seen for a few minutes circling over a clearing at forest edge.

Earlier Indian records: Accipiter Gularis has been conclusively recorded from the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal area of India. There are two previous published continental Indian records
i) A record of a gularis specimen collected at Dibrugarh (Stevens, 1915) which needs verification
ii) A record of a mist-netted bird from the Vishakapatnam Ghats of Andhra Pradesh dated September 1983 and published by William S. Clark and Bruce M. Beehler in July 1991 which was identified as a gularis in the paper.
