Stripe-throated Yuhina White-throated Fantail

This largish Yuhina is at the western-most part of its range in the Dehradun area. A montane forest dweller, this species is paler and rarer in the west. A good sighting.

Rhipidura albogularis is extremely common in the Dun Valley. Bold, acrobatic and energetic, its unmistakable sweet call adds to the overall attractiveness.

Pale-billed Flowerpecker Thick-billed Flowerpecker

A tiny and non-descript nectarivorous bird, the Pale-billed is fairly common in the Dun valley.

Much rarer than the Pale-billed, this flowerpecker is easily identified by its bill shape, reddish eyes and white tail tip.

Grey-breasted Prinia Grey Bushchat

Extremely common and tame in the Dehradun area, the species occupies bushes, scrub and visits gardens. The Grey-breasted is a widespread species in India.

A Himalayan Saxicola species, the Grey Bushchat is often seen on electric wires and on top of stumps and low bushes. This male was singing in Bikram's garden.
