A strikingly coloured babbler, the 'Pekin Robin' is a popular cage bird in many parts of the world. Numerous in the Dehradun area, this bird was shot near Bikram's farm. |
A northwestern Himlayan endemic, the Black-chinned is a tiny (10cm) babbler which moves swiftly through the undergrowth in small flocks. Common in the Dun Valley. |

The Dun area is about the westernmost point of the range of O. traillii in India. It becomes more common to the east across the Himalayas. Female observed in poor light. Dehradun. |
A northwestern Indian Garrulax species, the Variegated is replaced by the similar Black-faced in the eastern Himalayas. This near endemic was spotted at Dhanaulti. |

This species replace the House Crows in less densely populated places. The larger sub-species intermedius occupies the higher elevations. This is ssp. levaillantii. |
A most efficient and powerful predator, this raptor is fairly regular in the Mussoorie area. The bird in the photograph is perhaps a juvenile and was spotted at Landour, Mussoorie. |
