Dexterity is
not someting one would normally associate with the big and heavy bill of
a hornbill, but the the way this hornbill cleanly picked berries from
the branch was a treat to watch
Species details
This species
has a large range in our country and can be found along the Himalaya
foothills to most of north-eastern India. It is relatively common in its
preferred open forest habitat. This midsized hornbill is 89cms in length
and the female featured here has a dark red bill-base and small casque.
