Descriptive Parts of a Bird
A good understanding of bird topography will allow you to observe and appreciate birds in greater detail and help you to more easily identfy birds. As you consult species descriptions, you will encounter a number of ornithological terms that describe the "landscape," or groups of feathers, of a bird's body. It’s a lot easier to notice what color a bird’s malar stripe is if you know it’s the line going down the bird’s chin, separating the cheek from the throat!
